What’s in the Library? Lots and lots of books of course, but did you know we also have ancient objects, surprising sounds and exciting art? Oh and a giant furry octopus!
Whatever it is, everything in the Library has a story to tell, and so do you. See some of these weird and wonderful items up close, all while you explore three imaginary worlds in our new, free family experience.
Here’s what to expect when you visit:
you’ll have an hour and a half to enjoy the gallery and you can arrive and leave anytime during the slot you’ve booked. For each timeslot, visitor numbers will be capped at 30. This is to make sure your family have the space and time to get stuck in!

interactive elements for children to play with including a fun activity trail around the space
a book corner to sit and relax together, with braille and tactile editions
a chance to take a look at some of our collection items including something from every continent. You’ll see alien zines, explore an alphabet of animals, and learn about one of the first ever photographs of the moon
family-friendly facilities including free buggy park, cloakroom and lockers; accessible toilets with baby changing facilities.
