The role of maps in shaping of our modern world is closely connected to the history of visual communication – and the renowned author and illustrator Chris Haughton is the perfect person to explore this story. Join Chris for an event inspired by his multi-award-nominated book The History of Information and the Library's current exhibition, Secret Maps.

Recommended for Years 5 – 9 History and Geography students.

    Before making books Chris worked as a designer and illustrator for many fair trade projects. He has written and illustrated seven books for young children including A BIT LOST, OH NO GEORGE!, SHH! WE HAVE A PLAN and MAYBE. His first non-fiction title THE HISTORY OF INFORMATION came out in 2024. It traces the history of information and disinformation, from pre-historic drawing to writing, to print, media, computing and the internet.
