About An Evening with Simple Minds
Charlie Burchill and Jim Kerr
Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill formed Simple Minds in 1977 and went on to make it one of the biggest, most influential, eclectic and pioneering groups of the past half century.
They emerged in Glasgow with a style rooted in art-rock and electronic dance, and through chart topping albums and exhilarating singles from 'Love Song' to 'Promised You A Miracle', 'Waterfront' to 'Don't You (Forget About Me)' (from the soundtrack of the classic film The Breakfast Club), they became one of the greatest bands of their generation, starring at Live Aid and selling over 60 million records worldwide. They are still performing to huge audiences across the globe.
Through their new joint memoir, Our Secrets Are The Same, Simple Minds founder members Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill have now told the candid and moving story of their unique journey through life and music and a remarkable enduring friendship .
They come to the British Library for a special evening in conversation with broadcaster, journalist and campaigner Mariella Frostrup.
Followed by a book signing.
