Sustenance: The Power of Food

Listen up and chow down for a shared meal and discussion on the importance of food in our communities.

About Sustenance: The Power of Food

Two people dressed in purple each holding a red box with the word 'Flour' written on it. They are stood in front of a yellow cut-out wheat field backdrop with a green background.

Edible Archives, Bradford’s food-as-art pioneers, host a meal and discussion with us in Bradford exploring the power of food to tell the stories of our time.

The heart of Sustenance will be a shared meal featuring ingredients gathered from around Bradford District, each of which has a connection to place, community and heritage.

The food will serve as a backdrop to our eclectic collection of contributors, who’ll each share their experiences of working with food to tell stories – including food historian Polly Russell, a curator at the British Library; members of Bowling Park Community Orchard; Edible Archives (Bradford-based artists Harry Jelley and Sonia Sandhu); and others to be announced.

Come with an open mind – and an empty stomach!

Please note: All food will be vegan with some gluten-free options. We are unfortunately unable to cater for other specific dietary requirements.
