About Fat Freddy's Drop: Based on a True Story
This event has been cancelled. We apologise for any inconvenience. Ticketholders will be contacted by the Box Office.
Fat Freddy’s Drop are a seven-piece band from Wellington, Aotearoa, known for their fusion of dub, reggae, soul, funk and electronic influences. Resolutely independent, they have worked their way up from small clubs to the greatest stages around the world.
This year they celebrate the 21st anniversary of their debut album Based On A True Story, which was Aotearoa’s longest-charting album, spending 111 weeks in the Top 40 and winning eight New Zealand Music Awards. Their current global tour is their first since Freddy's talismanic founding member and production maestro, Chris Ta’aloga Faiumu aka DJ MU suddenly passed away in July 2025.
For this exclusive event Fat Freddy’s Drop band members talk to DJ and founder of Classic Album Sundays, Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy about their extraordinary journey, followed by a listening session of Based On A True Story. In person tickets and also and global livestream tickets available to watch live for seven days on catch up.
Classic Album Sundays tells the stories behind the albums that have shaped our culture and our lives. Not always on Sundays, it is the world’s most popular album listening event.
