About God Save the Queens!
Fifty years after Poly Styrene and a generation of pioneering women helped shape punk's music, art and identity, a new festival – UP YOURS! GOD SAVE THE QUEENS – celebrates female autonomy, rebellion, and creative expression in punk and alternative scenes, past present and future.
This centrepiece panel features artist and activist Caroline Coon; film director, writer and curator Celeste Bell; musician, artist, filmmaker and founding member of The Raincoats Gina Birch; singer, saxophonist songwriter and founding member of X-Ray Spex Lora Logic.
Hosted by Vivien Goldman, journalist, writer and musician and New York University’s very own Punk Professor.

About UP YOURS! GOD SAVE THE QUEENS
UP YOURS! GOD SAVE THE QUEENS is a multi-venue London festival that presents artwork, photography, fashion and personal archival material from the women – original pioneers and contemporary artists – who transformed punk's visual and cultural language. The festival features a historic one-off live performance by a newly formed supergroup of pioneering musicians from X-Ray Spex, The Raincoats and The Slits; a landmark exhibition, a talks programme and the release of previously unheard Poly Styrene recordings, creating one of the most significant celebrations of women's contribution to punk ever staged.
Venue and bar opening times
This is an in-person only event in the British Library Knowledge Centre.
The Knowledge Centre and bar open from 18.00.
Please arrive no later than 15 minutes before the start time of this event. If you have specific access requirements please email customer@bl.uk
Concessions
There are a range of concessions available. These include discounts for British Library Members, Young Persons (16–25s), and visitors on Universal/Pension Credit and free entry for carers.
