Celebrate 100 years of Alison Lurie,the Pulitzer Prize–winning American author whose sharp wit redefined modern literary satire. Join Amanda Craig, Elly Griffiths,and Nicholas Tucker for a lively panel conversation chaired by Rosie Goldsmith, with special contributions from Antonia Fraser, Peter Eyre, and Margaret Drabble, as this centenary celebration brings together writers, scholars and readers to honour Lurie’s enduring legacy and the timeless relevance of her work.
Best known for novels such as The War Between the Tates and Foreign Affairs, Lurie explored the complexities of personal relationships, academia, and British and American culture with intelligence and humour.
The evening will feature readings from Lurie’s most celebrated works, alongside reflections from contemporary writers and critics on her influence and significance. The discussion will delve into her themes of love, adultery, power, and women's lives, while also examining her contributions to children’s literature.
