About Pepperpots and Provision Grounds
Join Research Fellow Carmen Andall-Woodroofe for a recipe zine-making workshop that unearths food histories in Britain’s former Caribbean colonies. In this workshop you will hear stories of enslaved communities’ resistance against food insecurity at the hands of plantation owners told through key records at the British Library.
You will then be given a short tutorial on zine-making and have time to create your own to take home.
The recipe and materials will be provided but feel free to bring along any craft supplies and scrap paper that you would like to use.
This event is for inter-generational audiences, however, histories of enslavement will be discussed therefore parental and guardian discretion is advised for younger audiences.

Carmen Andall-Woodroofe is a researcher and workshop facilitator.

She is currently a British Library Visiting Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Sustainability and Environment. During her fellowship she is researching small-scale growing cultures amongst people of African heritage in Britain’s former colonies in the Caribbean using the Library’s collections.
