What do libraries bring to the conversation on climate change?

In a time of adverse weather events, libraries are working on ways they can support their users and local communities who face the impacts of climate change.

By their nature, libraries are both places of information and spaces where new ideas and activities can emerge. This means that libraries are ideal hubs to help us address the complex challenges of our time.

This year, our Libraries and Positive Climate Action webinar series explores what climate resilience means to libraries and cultural organisations around the world, and how they are deploying their expertise and resources to tackle the climate crisis.

The work of these organisations often focus on the diverse communities they serve and their experiences of climate change in their local environments. At the same time, they are also collaborating and learning from each other to enable positive climate action.

Kicking off during Green Libraries Week 2026, the webinars will centre on:

• Accessible climate information
• Adapting and building for resilience
• Co-creating with communities.
