About Introduction to the BIPC for Postgraduate Researchers
In the first half of this session, we will introduce attendees to our collections and how to access them. These include the national collection of patent specifications, official patent, trade mark, and design journals, and officially and commercially published indexes and abstracts. We also hold a collection of Trade Literature from mid-19th century to the present, including catalogues, market reports, trade directories, trade journals, annual reports, and books covering all aspects of business and management. We will also provide an introduction BIPC services, including an introduction to intellectual property and why it matters to academic researchers.
The second half of the session will focus on audience and impact of research, inviting researchers to think more closely about how they share their research and who they engage with. Links will be drawn to the current objectives of some of the UK’s largest research funders, encouraging researchers to consider how their work sits within the national funding landscape. Activities will encourage participants to think deeply about these elements of research and share their impressions with each other.
Refreshments will be provided during the break. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements (allergies or intolerances), but please be aware we cannot accommodate preferences. If you have any questions about this event or would like to discuss accessibility or dietary requirements, please contact pgr@bl.uk.
