Green Business is Good Business

A workshop in celebration of Green Libraries Week, focused on how businesses can communicate their environmental and ethical credentials in a way that is both compelling and credible.

About Green Business is Good Business

How can businesses communicate their environmental and ethical credentials in a way that is both compelling and credible?

Customers, investors and employees increasingly want to understand the values behind the products and services they choose but getting the story right matters. Claims that feel vague, exaggerated or unsupported can quickly undermine trust.

This workshop explores how to tell an authentic story about your environmental and ethical credentials without falling into the trap of greenwash. We’ll look at voice, character and metaphor, and consider how narratives work in strategic and commercial settings.

You’ll leave with fresh ideas for communicating your values with confidence and credibility, as well as an understanding of how to use the British Library’s collections for business and market research and how to carry out your own research into these topics.

The workshop will be led by David Fell, a social scientist who has spent more than 30 years researching sustainable behaviours. His novel Visco won the Green Stories Novel Prize in 2020.
