Are you exploring the East India Company or India Office records for your research, or interested in doing so? Join our reference specialists for an introduction into this unique archive and practical guidance on exploring this vast area of our collection.

The East India Company and India Office records constitute what is thought to be the UK’s second largest publicly accessible archive. With a date span of roughly 1600 – 1947, it consists of scores of thousands of volumes and files detailing all aspects of Britain’s historical links with the South Asian sub-continent and beyond and is a rich and unrivalled primary resource for historians.

This session is designed for final year undergraduates and postgraduate students, but anyone with an interest in researching this area is encouraged to join. No previous knowledge is expected or required.
